The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) has chosen Bacolod City as one of the key information resource areas under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Roadmap 2022.
The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT) was requested for support in the development and implementation of the roadmap by the IBPAP.
This would entail the holding of data collation, focus group discussions and meetings that will consult all the stakeholders in the IT-BPO sector under BNEFIT. Participation in various fora and workshops scheduled from May 9 to 13 was also requested.
“We are now preparing the ICT Roadmap 2022 in the midst of rapid technological advances that have drastically altered our business environment,” was disclosed by Penny Bongato, executive director for Talent Development and Research of IBPAP.
The burgeoning IT-BPO industry is expected to meet the challenges of the ever changing dynamics and demands of the industry both globally and locally.
BNEFIT with its executive director Jocelle Batapa-Sigue will present the ICT industry vision to IBPAP. The aim is to generate 60,000 direct jobs on a wide range of IT-BPO services of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
“This will translate to a salary circulation of P900 million a month or P10.8 billion annually,” Batapa-Sigue said, adding that this is on top of the 180,000 indirect jobs the industry can create.
The jobs generated will be comprised of 30,000 voice BPO, 8,000 for the RIS, shared services and non-voice is expected to create 6,000 jobs along with 5,000 for healthcare information related services, 3,000 for software development, 2,000 from startups and creative processes and 1,000 for R & D and knowledge processing.
