Innovation Festival Tel Aviv |
May Montero and Ginger Palma – Arboleda represented the Philippines in the DLD Innovation Festival in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Innovation Festival was held last September 24 – 29, 2016.
May Montero, together with her husband Kenneth Morgan Nieto presented Tambio which they launched last May 2015. Tambio is for people who participate in commercial raffles. These raffle prizes are the redeemed in booths located in malls. Tambio makes it fun and easy for the participants by removing the tedious filling up of raffle tickets. Tambio uses mobile devices and printers for the raffle tickets. Rurrently, Tambio can be found in 8 shopping malls in Metro Manila and the innovation has processed more than a billion in sales for one mall operator.
Ginger Palma-Arboleda had Taxumo. Knowing the difficulties in the tax payment process had her husband develop a system so as to avoid “tax-bill shocks”. This system will compute, file and pay taxes of SMEs and the self-employed.
Those who avail of Taxumo will just pay a monthly subscription fee for services that previously take a long and winding process. This will save the users much time, avoid mistakes in calculations and will do away with the services of so-called tax experts. Taxumo is scheduled to be launched in November 2016.
DLD Tel Aviv Innovation Festival was held from 24 to 29 September of 2016 and will consist of a five-day series of events focused on digital culture, creativity and urban innovation ranging from meet-ups, conferences and panels to outdoor public happenings.
The Festival is part of the Israeli government’s efforts in growing its startup industries. These include the Creative Cities and the “Start Tel Aviv” where the winners will be given the opportunity to showcase the enterprises and innovations. The Israeli government is not only funding these startups but also is creating an ideal startup innovation infrastructure.
